Ferdinand Magellan's famous expedition from Spain with five ships and 270 men in an effort to find a western sea route to the rich spice islands of Indonesia.
In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan set sail from Spain in an effort to find a western sea route to the rich spice islands of Indonesia. In command of five ships and 270 men, Magellan sailed to West Africa and then to Brazil. Many of his ships perished as they crossed over to the Pacific Ocean from the Atlantic side. The last ship "Victoria" continued across the Indian Ocean and around the Cape of Good Hope before arriving back in Spain. Magellan did not live to see his daring expedition reach a successful conclusion. Basque navigator Juan Sebastian de Elcano with 17 other Europeans and four Indians survived to reach Spain in September 1522 to complete the extraordinary journey around the world.
In 2017, a small band of entrepreneurial mavericks with alchemic skills in geospatial intelligence and machine learning set sail to found a daring new GovTech company. They christened the company CITYDATA.ai. Their goal was to find fresh, accurate, and anonymized People Intelligenceā¢ for safer cities and smarter businesses. They defined "People Intelligence" as deep insights about people-presence, activity, and movement, with the utmost attention to data privacy and security. They persevered from city to city around the world across 60 countries. When the scrappy team finally arrived at their 1522 th city, they unanimously proclaimed "Victory" with great joy for their CityDash.ai platform now proudly showcased "People Intelligence" for 1522 cities, metropolitan areas, and population centers at a global scale.
